Domain7 is a change agency fostering innovation through people-centric methods. Our vision is to co-create a more empathetic world. It’s a vision that brings us together, to answer questions about how people organize, how experiences are designed, and how technology is created. Deeply rooted in integrity, over the past 24 years Domain7 has grown into a strongly people-first culture that places empathy alongside sophisticated expertise. Our team of strategists, designers and digital practitioners help organizations shift to healthier, more collaborative and people-centric futures.

Our Experience Designers are highly visible facilitators and makers who work closely with colleagues from a variety of disciplines on both internal and client teams. They are inquisitive and meticulous: surveying both the breadth and depth of a problem space to determine the right problems to be solved, and iterating our way into solutions.

As a facilitator, you will help create the context for collaboration and participation to help us ask the right questions, define user experience and business goals, and uncover opportunities through research and synthesis.

As a maker, you will explore those opportunities through cycles of ideation, prototyping, validation, and finally bringing them to life alongside other designers and developers.

The ideal candidate is curious, human-centric, opinionated about the role of technology in society, and how we might design and make our way into that future. They are seasoned practitioners who can confidently lead design as part of a multidisciplinary team – which might look like 4 year’s experience or more in shipping design. In particular, we are interested in folks with backgrounds in any of the following: designing for content and communication, government and public sector, Drupal or other infrastructure-scale CMS.

We recognize that every individual has a unique career journey and experience comes in many forms. Good design comes out of a team with diverse experiences. If your skills and experiences are relevant in any way to what we have described so far, we encourage you to apply!

  • Work in close collaboration with external clients, stakeholders, and internal project management, design, and engineering teams to distill complex business processes into intuitive digital experiences.
  • Lead the Design function within a client engagement. Identify the appropriate design process and methods that best meets the client challenge and implement them.
  • Partner with researchers, designers, and strategists to plan, run and facilitate workshops, field research, and participatory design activities.
  • Synthesize research outcomes into compelling insights that motivate action. These are often documented using artifacts such as process flows, personas, and experience maps.
  • Rapidly ideate, prototype and validate solutions alongside internal and external teams. This often involves producing artifacts such as sitemaps, sketches, and both high- and low-fidelity prototypes.
  • Working closely with engineering teams to turn concepts into launched products. Bonus points if you can get your hands dirty with HTML, CSS, and JS.

  • Holistic understanding of contemporary human-centered design, design thinking, and product design practices – their strengths, weaknesses and how they might do better.
  • Background in typical UX research and design activities such as user interviews, A/B testing, heuristic evaluations, rapid prototyping, wireframing, considerations for usability and accessibility, etc.
  • Broad understanding and/or ability in the various skill sets needed to deliver a design project, but with deep expertise in 1 or 2. Examples include research, user experience, visual design, animation, prototyping etc.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written, verbal and visual) with the ability to be a thought partner/coach to both client and internal teams.
  • Knowledge of web technologies, and their impact on design decisions. Bonus points if you are dangerous with code.
  • Excited to work with a team that emphasizes client and stakeholder collaboration and participation as part of our design philosophy.
