Facilitator (12-18 month contract)

Growth & Engagement Team · Vancouver, British Columbia
Department Growth & Engagement Team
Employment Type Full Time
Minimum Experience Mid-level

Domain7 is a digital product and services agency with a vision of making a more empathetic and connected world. Working closely with clients who share collaborative values and a big-picture vision, Domain7 delivers digital overhauls, originals, and optimizations to digital presences, products, and systems.

What does it look like to co-create organizations that truly put people first? Facilitation plays a crucial role in helping bring people together in processes of inclusive, participatory future-seeking. Whether it takes place as a half-day learning session or a long-term strategy consultation, facilitators help participants shape the future of their organizations and communities. As a facilitator at Domain7, your role is about equitably sharing power to ensure all voices are heard in the setting of future directions, while sharing methods and practices along the way.

Responsibilities

In this maternity leave coverage role (12-18 months), you’ll be working to:

Design, host and close out facilitation engagements:

  • Model thoughtful and creative approaches to equity-centered facilitation, creating brave, open spaces for difficult, creative, productive conversations
  • Run sessions as a key and co-facilitator for a wide range of audiences, coming from higher education, government, non-profit and more, both virtually and in-person settings (though primarily virtual as pandemic restrictions continue)
  • Design and plan engagements to meet client objectives, which may include ideation and vision-setting, strategic planning, team development, innovation and prototyping, or other people-centered collaborative outcomes
  • Work towards synthesizing results from engagements, and deliver well-written, clearly summarized results from facilitated processes
  • Meet with client sponsors directly to engage in discovery activities
  • Work with Domain7’s community engagement platform, Civil Space (and its clients) to design, plan, run and synthesize virtual asynchronous engagements.

Support and develop the practice:

  • Work with proposal writers and sales team members to scope and sell engagements up-front
  • Engage in creative strategy and planning sessions to envision the growth and development of this business stream

Develop and share public-facing materials and experiences:

  • Share learnings with team members, to help cultivate the practice of facilitation
  • Participation in the creation of public-facing materials (articles and downloadable resources) on the topic of co-creation, design thinking and facilitation
  • Design and host public enrollment learning sessions to offer workshop-based learning of design thinking and co-creation methods

Qualifications:

  • Experience with facilitation and participatory process techniques, such as IAP2, Art of Hosting, design thinking, co-creation, Design Sprint, and related methods — as a practitioner, facilitator and teacher
  • Experience guiding communities through collaborative strategy and vision-setting processes
  • Strong digital literacy, with the ability to work well in cloud-based collaboration tools (like Miro, Jamboard, G-Suite, Teams, Zoom, and the ever-increasing options)
  • Excellent public speaker and writer, with a strong hosting presence and communication skills
  • A passion and curiosity for how communities can increase the value and care for their people, through deep co-creation and engagement
  • Adaptability and maturity for leading difficult, personal and inspiring conversations in workplaces
