Domain7 is a design and technology agency with a mission to co-create a more empathetic and connected world. Over the coming five years, Domain7 has set a clear goal to become a global leader in Transformation Design. We are specifically focused on partnerships with large public organizations and government bodies, as well as private sector businesses who are looking to transform their business by treating their customers as a community, and who see the value in business models that prioritize a triple bottom line. Specifically, we’re growing our offering  along these four key pillars: strategic consulting services, education (corporate and individual), systems implementation, and SaaS products.


To enable this future, we are looking for a Chief Technology Officer to lead the technology practice at the organization, whose vision and imagination for transforming these sectors through technology will encourage and equip Domain7 to be a global leader. The Chief Technology Officer will lead the development of our people and our systems through the growth and development of our technology team and the creation of innovative new business offerings and models. The Chief Technology Officer will utilize their experience and network to forge new relationships and business for the organization, and will be comfortable being part of a consultative marketing and sales process.


As a leader at the organization, the Chief Technology Officer will pair ambition and collaboration, possessing a significant drive to improve the standing of technology internally and externally, while demonstrating ability and willingness to develop innovative solutions to business and systems challenges. The Chief Technology Officer will engage with the Domain7 organization and our partners with a co-creative mindset, taking an empathetic, collaborative approach to understanding people, organizational, and societal problems, and whose attitude and work style will demonstrate a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust. 


The Chief Technology Officer will be accountable for the following key areas, and will partner effectively with other senior leaders at Domain7 to establish clear reporting, responsibility, and ownership structures across the technology function. 


Mature and grow our technology services offerings

The Chief Technology Officer will bring a strong awareness of how our target audiences operate, and will work to leverage design-driven innovation in the internal shaping of new practices and offerings as well as external articulation of the agency’s practices and offerings with Domain7’s prospective and current client base.


  • Support the growth of our emerging Transformation Design practice and offerings
  • Lead the maturation of our technology consulting offering
  • Lead the growth and development of new technology-focused service offerings in current and emergent technology fields
  • Oversee the development and  implementation of technology within projects and partnerships
  • Participate as a lead technology consultant in marketing and sales opportunities, and build the team’s capability and capacity to support technology components of all growth and engagement work


People development

The Chief Technology Officer will bring experience and perspective on how to build equitable, diverse and inclusive teams, processes, and systems, and will be capable of running a large and growing discipline through strategic hiring, performance management, team prioritization and allocation, budgeting, etc.

  • Co-create and implement an inspiring vision for a team of technology practitioners and leaders, aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values
  • Build a diverse team and cultivate a culture that embodies an equitable, accessible and sustainable workplace
  • Provide direct leadership and mentorship to senior technology leaders within the organization
  • Set the vision for technology delivery capacity across the agency
  • Manage key partnerships for technical delivery support (ie. vendors, suppliers, partner agencies, etc.)


Organizational technology leadership

The Chief Technology Officer will guide our internal technology practices ensuring that our process, systems, and practices are all inline with industry best practices.


  • Lead the organization’s technology strategy development, including
    • ownership of the technology vision in all areas of the organization, and
    • proactive and ongoing participation in internal and external thought leadership development, articulation, and documentation
  • Bring leadership to consistent, scalable technology implementation processes and tooling, including Software Development Life Cycle best practices
  • Take an active role in vendor management across existing and future technology partners
  • Support policy development in key areas, including data privacy and protection


SaaS product leadership

Domain7 launched a SaaS product, Civil Space,  3 years ago and intends to continue developing a suite of products to enable public service organizations to increase the equity, accessibility and sustainability of their communities. The CTO will provide senior technology leadership across all current and future products.


Responsibilities will include


  • Strategic identification of product opportunities within service delivery and with our existing clients
  • Create and uphold consistent development practices across multiple products and services
  • Mentorship of technology leaders within Civil Space and future product business units
